''An author must take risks. I cannot know what millions of readers over the world will think about what they are reading. I write for the one person whom I know reasonably well - myself. Every creative undertaking is an adventure which is at once painful and fascinating: on the one hand, there is the fear of discovering our own ghosts; on the other, the excitement of knowing we are more interesting than we thought we were. ''

Paul Coelho

AAAh.....today is Friday again......weekend again...yahoooo...ain't it surprising that inspite of me having very little to do.....I still look forward to the weekend...I wonder why....guess its because that's the time when I get maximum time with myself at home....just read a book, or listen to music, or cook......or maybe shop....life falls in to sucha routine and I am such a ''routinised person''. I love routines.....that doesn't mena that I do not like changes....when I am undergoing change...I like the change....when I am in a routine...I like the routine.....its not that I miss a routine in times of change or something like that.....I guess thats the best thing that I like about myself....I am adaptable....well...now thats one new strong point which I can quote in my next interview...:-)))

MK.....all this must be jargon for u....its just a piece of introspection.....which I am doing over a cup of tea....

Murphy's laws on Business

· If anything can go wrong, it will, and. .

1. It will go wrong at the worst possible time
2. Anything you plan will cost more and take longer
3. To fix anything requires a tool that you don’t have

· Nothing is as easy as it looks.
· Everything takes longer than you think
· If there is a possibility of several things going wrong, the one that will cause the most damage will be the one to go wrong.

· If there is a worse time for something to go wrong, it will happen then.
· If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.
· It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenious.
· Every solution breeds new problems.
· Complex problems have simple, easy-to understand wrong answers.
· All vacations and holidays create problems, except for one's own.
· A meeting is an event at which the minutes are kept and the hours are lost.
· After any salary raise, you will have less money at the end of the month than you did before
· Nothing ever gets built on schedule or within budget
· All's well that ends

Have been reading some blogs and one of them was so depressing. He has written about life and life's idiosyncracies....the way he has expressed his feelings is truly commendable...i mean words just flow and so smoothly.....but when u actually ponder on those thoughts....u do feel low....

Now u may ask...why read it when its so depressing.....well...no particular reason...just that its so sadistically compulsive to read abt depression.....such a human tendency to read abt depression and then crib that its depressing...ironical isnt it....but then Life itself is full of ironies.....ain't it?
Some beautiful lines :

''Facades are easy to do, but the old shadows still fall over it and when they overlap, they serve to only intensify the darkness.''
Have had no work today...and have been busy browsing the net.....and reading blog sites...was reading this blog named Vantage point....by a dude named Gaurav ...is from Pune....just completed his MBA from IIML and is working with IBM....he writes groovily....(hope thats the right word)....its witty and humorous which is so difficult to find nowadays.....reading some of his entries got me rofl and Pushpa (my neighbour from the next cubicle).....was so interested in knowing what was making me laugh....

am gonna snitch some sentences from his site.... one quote from Dilbert which goes "You have to pretend to be someone else till the other person loves you for what you are". :-))))

Jeremy just asked me whether Kulkarni is a common name in Maharashtra......I told him yes....he says'' Is it something like the ''Smith'' in England''....and I said yes....and I told him that you also have loads of ''Joshis'' and he says they are something like teh ''Jones''......hahhahahhahahah.......that was so funny....Kulkarnis=Smiths and Joshis=Jones......:-)))

Am currently reading ''Rebecca's tale''.....its a continuation of the Daphne Du Maurier's ''Rebecca''....I reallly fail to understand why wd anyone other than Daphne Du Maurier need to write a sequel.....to Rebecca.....still just wanted to read whats there in it...so picked it up.....have read around 25%....it just cannot be compared to the original.....
Well.....what have I been doing all these days......just a bit caught up with work...and basically lazy....to write ...this week is gonna be a slow week...as Tony is in India....and I really do not ahve much work heaped up...so decided to write today...

Last weekend was good.....on Sat morning as usual rushed to the library and then on my way to Savemore(grocery store) saw the street book sale....so decided to stop over....and surprise surprise...I actually saw recent bestsellers there selling for a pound each...which was so good.....but since I had already reda them from teh library...didnt buy them....saw Schindler's list which I was hunting for in India....so bought it.....then browsed thro' and saw this old 3 volumes of '' World's Greatest paintings'' and just cdnt resist picking it up.....the interesting thing is that the book is a 1930's copy....so has that old English binding...Its beautiful.....has prints of the famous paintings like Mona lisa, Madonna in teh garden...etc etc.....and also description abt each painting...not the technical descriptions which noone wd be interested in...but a page abt each artist and his famous works....which is pretty interesting....its Collectors item....and guess teh price.....got all three volumes for 15 pounds.....:-))))
was so thrilled....Contd browsing and saw a biography of Greta Garbo which I picked for satish....and also picked a hardbound of Ernest Hemingway....and it has around 6 of his boks in it...got these for a pound each....so cdnt resist....the seller was so amused that she gave me a whole lot of bags to carry the books in.....:-)))

Sorabh, his wife and Prem were in Croydon househunting.....so met them and decided to go to Pizza hut for lunch....had lunch....shopped for vegetables and returned home to admire my purchases....:-)))

In teh evening Sibs was visiting ....so had tea with him....and he moved out at 8 for dinner witha friend....then I cooked some dinner and called it a day......

On Sunday had decided to visit the Neasden temple.....it seems its like the Birla temple.....and very beautiful....Recahed Neasden station with Sibs at 4.....went out and looked around and cd see a temple far off.....since neither of us knew the way, we decided to walk in its direction.....still to be on the safe side decided to ask sumone the way....saw this Indian Gujju lady on the bustop and asked her.....she cdnt talk Hindi...beat that...she started talking in Gujarati....and obviously I cdnt understand Gujarathi...neither cd Sibs....somehow I told her that we wanted to visit the Swaminarayan temple...She told us we were in the wrong direction.....so we asked her the right direction.....she tried explaining to us...and finally she decided to take us there...:-))
we started walking....and walking and walking......for 20 mins....and finally she showed us teh temple.....which ofcourse wasnt the one which we set out for......she stays very closeby...so she invited us for tea....but we very graciously declined sayin that we wanted to visit the temple.....so she bid us goodbye.....and went off......sweeet lady......she actually walked all the way with us...instead of taking the bus......we entered the temple.....had prasad....prayed and left....neither of us had the strength to go searching for the right temple....so we decided to leave that search for another day.....

Today we realised that we went in the opposite direction.......:-)))
